GFA Referee Development Event 

Gloucestershire FA were delighted to welcome newly appointed Select Group Referee Simon Hooper to their first pre-season event at Hartpury College last weekend.

The event was aimed at updating referees in preparation for the new season and Simon gave an excellent talk on his referee journey from being a youth referee in Swindon to the elite list of match officials he has joined this season. All of the referees who attended will have been truly inspired with Simon’s honesty and passion for refereeing. In addition, he took time out in the sweltering heat to support some of the practical sessions delivered to develop referees in the role of being an assistant referee when the session went outdoors.

Roger Vaughan (GFA Referee Development Officer) updated those present on the law changes for the coming season and some of the other developments including the development of the Sin Bin pilot in different leagues in the County.

Nigel Newport-Black (GFA Chairman of Referees Committee) thanks Simon for his support,  and presented a small gift before wishing him well on the next stage of his refereeing journey  this weekend and look forward to welcoming back again soon.

This Sunday (12/08/18) the Gloucestershire FA have another referees meeting, scheduled at The Glos FA HQ in Almondsbury with a 9:30 Start, this time featuring Professional Football League Referee Kevin Johnson as a guest speaker!
