On his appointment Sam said " I was pleased to be offered the role of Football Services Officer with the GFA. I played football from the age of 5 until I decided to change roles and take up a career with the whistle, qualifying as a referee aged 14.

It was my role as a referee that got me involved with the Gloucester Youth League as Referee Secretary and this has moved on to the Severn Valley Youth League following our migration with the Stroud Youth League last season.

Being in that role for 3 years I have recently been voted in as chairman for the league and look forward to the challenges ahead and continuing to grow the league.

In relation to my role at the GFA, I look forward to assisting as much of the organisation as possible and will use my passion for football to make a positive impact."
