The Future of Youth Football

Tailoring youth football to fit even better, and mean even more for all young players in England

The FA has today launched "FutureFit",outlining changes to the format of the youth game across the country with the aim of giving youth players more opportunity, more variety, more responsibility, and more action to feed their potential.

These changes will come into effect from the start of the 2026-27 season. The aims are as follows:

The GFA encourages all coaches and committee members involved in youth football to take the time to read through the plans, which are available here.

We understand that many of you will be keen to learn more about the changes and how they impact your clubs and teams, so we will be hosting an info session at Oaklands Park on Friday, 28th March to go through the reasoning behind the change and to explain the next steps.

You can click below to register your interest in attending - we expect that places at this event will likely be in high demand, so spots will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Should the event be oversubscribed, clubs and leagues will be limited to no more than two attendees each.
