Pat Sice

The GFA mourns the passing of Pat Sice

Rest in peace, Pat.

The Gloucestershire FA is saddened to hear of Pat’s recent passing on Tuesday, 10th September 2024.

Pat was a Life Member having been elected to the GFA Council in 1985. In late 2007, as Chair of the League, he published a history of the first 50 years of the Bristol Premier Combination League and included a biography about his involvement in football. These are his own words:

“Following a period of Refereeing in the Stroud League and as Secretary and Treasurer for a number of years with Thornbury Town, in 1989 he joined the Gloucestershire FA as Assistant Coaching Secretary. From 1991 to 1996 he held the position of Deputy Treasurer. When the County Treasurer’s position became unexpectedly vacant he served for 2 years in this position.  In 1996, he was invited to join the Bristol Premier Combination League and Bristol & District League and was elected as one of the Match Secretaries. Following the passing of Chairman, Norman Hale, he was honoured to be elected as Chairman of both the District and the Premier Combination (2004) and in 2006 he was nominated as the Representative of the Bristol Premier Combination League to Gloucestershire FA.”

Further to this, Pat served on the GFA Disciplinary, Rules Revision & League Sanction and County Match Committees.  He also managed the setup of our first website in 2004.

Pat was a valued member of our football community and will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with all his friends and family.
