The Gloucestershire FA launches new strategy for 2024 -2028
The Gloucestershire Football Association has today, the 28th October 2024, launched our new strategy for the four-year period up to and including 2028.
The strategy, titled ‘Inspiring Positive Change Through Football’, sets out the GFA’s values, priorities and drivers as we head into a new cycle.
Matt Boucher, Head of Strategy and Delivery: “We are pleased to share this document, which is the product of months of hard work, cooperation and consultation with our community. It outlines the interventions that we will be making over the next four years to ensure the sustained growth of the game we all love. Our previous strategy saw us make terrific strides to rebuild the game following the COVID-19 pandemic, and now is the time to build on that.”
The strategy focuses on six key priority areas, which are aligned to The FA’s national priorities. These are:
1. Improve Playing Choice and Opportunities
2. Develop Equal Opportunities for Women and Girls to Play
3. Build More and Improve Existing Facilities
4. Tackle Poor Behaviour
5. Develop a Valued Network of Volunteers, Coaches and Referees
6. Develop and Diversify the Business
The theme of ‘Inspiring Positive Change Through Football’ is reflective of football as a force for good, as shown in a new and independent report published today by The FA, 'The Social and Economic Value of Football in England'.
“As the number one participation sport in our County, football continues to be of great social and economic benefit within Gloucestershire,” said Matt Boucher. “Our desire to grow and develop the game stems from this positive impact that the game has on our community and the individuals within it.”
Chief Executive Officer David Neale: “The local network of football volunteers and delivery partners are vital to helping us achieve the ambitious priorities set out in this strategy and we look forward to working closely with our key partners and the stakeholders across the county over the next four years.”
To ensure continued collaboration with all those involved in grassroots football, the GFA will be hosting five information sessions, each aligned to one of our priorities:
- Playing Choice and Opportunities - Monday 11th November
- Opportunities for Women and Girls - Wednesday 6th November
- Facilities - Thursday 14th November
- Tackling Poor Behaviour - Wednesday 20th November
- Volunteers - Wednesday 13th November
All stakeholders who may have an interest in a particular area are invited to learn more about the strategy and ask any questions you might have. You can attend as may sessions as you like. Click here to sign up for all sessions.
Matt Boucher: “The strategy document aims to be as detailed as possible, but it could not be all-encompassing. Come along to an info session to learn more about our plans for the next four years!”
