Disability Training For Clubs
After a hugely successful first year of the Disability Training For Clubs programme, we are delighted to be offering another workshop in the new year.
Clubs from across Gloucestershire and Somerset are invited to come and learn how to help grow and offer disability football.
Our workshop will address various on and off-pitch barriers that grassroots clubs may perceive they face when trying to become more inclusive of disabled people.
“Gloucestershire clubs found last year’s event to be really useful,” said Hattie Tidwell, GFA Football Development Officer for the Disability Pathway. “Take Red Falcon FC as an example. They’re a Bristol club who engaged with the DTFC training a year ago and since then they have quickly grown a Disability section of the club. They now host successful recreational sessions for disabled players every week – it’s taken a lot of amazing work on their part, but it all began here when they were given the tools and confidence to get started.”
Red Falcon representatives will be in attendance this year to speak to clubs about the journey they have been on over the last twelve months and to answer any questions the audience might have.
The FA have teamed up with Activity Alliance, the leading voice for disabled people in sport and activity, to support your club’s journey to start and grow your disability provision on and off the pitch. At the workshop you will be given a toolkit where you will find lots of information, practical tips, resources, and examples to help you along the way.
Your journey starts here; football is our national game and it has the power to bring people together, remove social barriers and be a force for good across all communities.
